All restaurant, bar and nightclub merchants in Bakersfield, California, and the entire USA should always have a POS System “crash kit” available. The POS System crash kit is not unlike a crash kit they use in the hospitals, whereby it is a kit that can prevent your sales from dying, due to internet outages, POS System crashes, or just plain old power outages.
Nothing like a busy restaurant, bar, or nightclub on a hot summer night, when a power transformer blows out, and all the people in the building that have open tabs want to pay with credit cards. Great, go get the POS System crash kit, right?
Wait no crash kit! So the managers, servers, and bartenders are all trying in the dark no less, to find the credit card imprinter slips (remember the 1970’s slips) and the good old knuckle buster (card imprinter). Meanwhile, some guests may get anxious and decide to leave and pay on the honor system, (on ‘er terms), and others will try and find some cash to pay their tabs, so they can get home or to another venue with power.

When high speed internet goes down, Touchscreen POS Systems can still take food and drink orders, but cannot process credit cards. So with a backup POS credit card terminal, on a dial-up landline, the merchant will prevent his sales from dying, or walking out the door before paying.
